Lenovo Debuts Qualcomm Snapdragon-based Smartbook
January 08, 2010
Lenovo debuted a smartbook based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip on January 5, Reuters reported. Codenamed Skylight, the Lenovo smartbook is built on the ARM II architecture as opposed to the Intel x86 platform adopted in most netbook PCs at present. Moreover, Skylight runs on a customized Linux operating system instead of Microsoft Windows. Featuring a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM II processor, commonly used in Smartphones, Lenovo's Skylight smartbook sports over 10 hours of active battery life as well as a 10-inch widescreen display. As one of the first commercialized Snapdragon-based smartbook products, Skylight is slated to hit the US market in April with a price tag of US$499. Skylight is expected to enter the European and Chinese markets within 2010, too.
