Quanta to Begin OLPC Volume Production in 2H 2007

XO-1, the first notebook PC developed by the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) association and manufactured by Taiwan's Quanta Computer, is scheduled to enter volume production in the second half of 2007. Quanta's initial XO-1 shipment is estimated at 10,000 to 20,000 units per month, which is forecasted to rise to 10 million units within two to three years. Featuring open-source Linux platform and Taiwanese CMO's display panel, XO-1's price tag is expected to drop to US$100 in 2009.
