Hoya Buys Pentax for 90.6 Billion Yen

Japanese optical glass maker Hoya has announced that it will acquire Japan's camera maker Pentax with 90.6 billion Yen (US$765.7 million; US$1=118.4 Yen) on October 1, 2007. The new company, which will be known as Hoya Pentax HD, will focus on manufacturing of endoscopes, digital cameras, and contact lenses.
