Hitachi recently announced it plans to set up a flat-panel TV plant in Zatec in the Czech Republic. Hitachi is expected to invest US$112.2 million in this 40-hectare facility and hire up to 2,000 workers. The plant will be located in a local industrial park where IPS Alpha, a LCD TV panel joint venture between Hitachi, Matsushita, and Toshiba, also plans to build a factory. Hitachi's flat-panel TV plant is expected to start operations in the summer of 2007.
