Huawei recently announced that its CMB (Cell Multimedia Broadcast) technology is being adopted by Hong Kong operator PCCW in a mobile TV service. CMB is being positioned by Huawei as a competitor to DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld) and Korean DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting). Huawei stated that it is also planning to apply for patents related to this technology outside of China. PCCW uses the technology for a mobile TV service it recently launched in Hong Kong for 110,000 subscribers.
