China's MII Approves Nine Makers for DTVs with Built-In CAS Module

China's MII (Ministry of Information Industry) recently announced the first batch of manufacturers to have been certified for the production of digital TVs with built-in CAS (Conditional Access System) modules. The manufacturers include SSMEC, Datang Microelectronics, Soyea, Tsinghua Tongfang, Hisense, Jiuzhou, Konka, Changhong, and Skyworth. Earlier in 2006, MII settled on the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) solution for digital TVs receivers.
