Indian GSM, CDMA Spectrum Allocation Remains 2:1
April 07, 2006
India's Department of Telecommunications has announced new criteria for the allocation of GSM and CDMA spectrum to operators. However, the existing 2:1 ratio between spectrum allocated to GSM and CDMA operators will remain unchanged. Several CDMA operators have expressed disagreement with the new policy, as it is likely to benefit GSM operators, including Bharti, Hutch, Idea, Spice, MTNL and BSNL.
