Abstract
According to forecast by the WiMAX Forum, it is estimated that the number of WiMAX subscribers in India will reach 19 million by 2012, accounting for approximately 20% of the global WiMAX subscriber base. As the Indian government is scheduled to auction 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz spectrum licenses at the fourth quarter of 2009, the WiMAX Forum predicts that the annual WiMAX equipment market value in India will be able to top US$600 million in the future. Seeking to tap the enormous WiMAX equipment business opportunities presented by the Indian market, global WiMAX equipment providers and Indian IT vendors alike have injected considerable resources to this end. This research will profile the overall WiMAX industry in India and analyze the current development of companies positioned throughout the industry value chain.
