Abstract

This research finds that shipment volume of the global desktop PC industry rounded up to 103.5 million units in 2016, falling 9.1% year-on-year; though the industry declined slower than that in 2015, the decline rate remained close to double-digits. In recent years, as the gaming ecosystem is shaping up, software and hardware developers, information service providers, and even governments have attempted to unearth market opportunities from this new arena. Owing to the gaming and commercial replacement demand, global desktop PC decline is forecast to slow down with a shipment volume of around 99.1 million units in 2017.
