China's MIIT (Ministry of Information Industry Technology) announced on December 9 that the proportion of home appliance products sold in China was 94.9% during January and October 2016, down 0.4% compared to the same period last year. This October the rate continued to drop to 93.2%, down 0.6% compared to October 2015. When it comes to shipment performance from January to October 2016, shipment volume of refrigerators totaled about 78.15 million units, up 2.3% year-on-year; air conditioners about 133.2 million units, up 2.1% year-on-year, while washing machines reached about 62.0 million units, up 4% year-on-year. Of total four major home appliances, TV had the highest shipment volume of about 139.8 million units, growing 8.6% year-on-year. In October alone, shipment volume of refrigerators reached about 7.43 million units, up 27% year-on-year; air conditioners about 11.6 million units, up 19.2% year-on-year; washing machines about 6.33 million units, up 3.4% year-on-year. As for export volume, China's cumulative export value of main home appliances from January to October totaled about 308.78 billion RMB (USD44.4 billion; USD 1 = 6.96 RMB), up 6.2% year-on-year. In October alone, China's main home appliances export value arrived at 28.4 billion RMB (USD 4.08 billion), up 3.2% year-on-year. This indicates the growth continued albeit at a slower rate.
