Abstract

The report finds that global mobile phone market volume is anticipated to witness 0.5% year-on-year growth in 2016, growing slower than expected, and reach 1.95 billion units, 1.50 billion of which will be contributed by smartphones. The market has dropped to single digits, representing that the market goes through a plateau period. On top of that, MIC predicts that the consolidated share of smartphones priced at USD300 or less will reach over 60% in 2016 with most of them running on Android. It is forecast market volume of Android smartphones will reach nearly 1.3 billion units, with a share of over 80%, in 2016.
