Intel's Coffee Lake and Windows 10 Commercial Replacement Demand to Soften Global Motherboard Market Decline in 2018: MIC
April 22, 2018

Intel's Coffee Lake and Windows 10 commercial replacement demand will help soften the global motherboard market decline in 2018, with a total of nearly 103 million motherboards shipped in 2018, according to Taipei-based and government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute) " As the replacement demand triggered by Windows 10 that kicked in at the end of 2017 is slated to continue into 2019, it is anticipated that the pace of industry's shipment volume decline will remain slow for the period 2018-2019 compared to the period 2015-2017," says Wen-hua Hsu, industry analyst with MIC.

"The high gross margin of high-end gaming motherboards has offset the sales gap caused by the decline in motherboard shipments. How well VR technology can improve is important in determining the future demand of motherboards."
