Shipments of the Desktop PC and Motherboard Industries Still Waiting for Commercial Replacemend Demand to Kick In: MIC
February 13, 2018

The report finds that shipment volume of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry grew 3.8% sequentially in the third quarter of 2017, reaching 12.5 million units, while the motherboard industry grew 10.3% sequentially in the third quarter of 2017 with shipment volume of 27.1 million units, according to Taipei-based and government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). "Since commercial replacement demand did not take place as anticipated, the desktop PC industry's shipment performance did not live up to expectations towards year-end 2017. At the same time, shipment volume of the industry is anticipated to have declined to 25.2 million units in the fourth quarter as new products running on the Coffee Lake processor have yet to give a boost," says Claire Lin, industry analyst at MIC.
