Global PC System Shipment Volume Expected to Reach 433 Million Unites in 2017: MIC
June 03, 2017

Shipment volume of global PC systems, including notebook PCs, desktop PCs, tablets, and servers, is forecast to reach around 433 million units in 2017, with the year-on-year growth dipping from 9% in 2016 to 4%, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a Taipei-based ICT research institute. "The global PC industry has been bolstered by the commercial PC replacement demand and relatively stable global economy in 2017, thus the  decline in shipments of notebook PCs, desktop PCs, and tablets is expected to slow this year," says Charles Chou, Industry Consultant with MIC.

"In addition, with outstanding manufacturing capabilities, Taiwan manufacturers have received orders to produce most branded commercial notebook PCs. Therefore, Taiwan’s global market share in notebook PC and desktop PC shipments is expected to grow steadily in 2017. The global server market is able to witness growth this year owing to continuous deployments of cloud-based services by branded vendors."
