Microsoft Starts Construction on Shanghai Science and Technology Park

Microsoft started construction on the first phase of its Science and Technology Park in Shanghai on March 31, according to a Shanghai Daily report. Microsoft's Shanghai Science and Technology Park is located in the Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park and hires a staff of around 1,500 at present. As Microsoft's first development and technology service park outside the United States, this facility involves an investment of about 700 million RMB (US$102.9 million; US$1=6.8 RMB). While the first-phase project covers a floor space of 55,000 square meters, the entire project is expected to cover a total of 96,000 square meters upon completion and is able to accommodate over 7,000 employees.
