Far EasTone Telecommunications has completed the NB-IoT (Narrowband-Internet of Things) network construction across Taiwan and has kicked off cooperation with Lite On to develop commercial services built around NB-IoT, according to Far EasTone's press release on May 24. Since the establishment in 2017, the NB-IoT ecosystem of Far EasTone has succeeded in recruiting over 75 members spanning smart street lighting, smart parking, smart environment detection, electric vehicle/bicycle monitoring management, battery power monitoring, asset tracking and wearable management with 300 upstream and downstream partners testing their NB-IoT service in the ecosystem. The initial cooperation with Lite On will focus on asset tracking management, which can be applied to container tracking, logistics tracking, and long-term care before jointly developing more NB-IoT applications across other service categories.
