Corning Expands Investment in Taiwan

Corning recently announced the expansion of its Taiwan-based Advanced Technology Center and its plan to deepen partnerships with Taiwanese display players such as AUO and Innolux, the United Daily News reported on March 8. Corning emphasized that its has invested in Taiwan for 18 years and the cumulative total is around US$ 5 billion. This expansion will include 50% increase in land area and 85% increase in lab capacity of the Advanced Technology Center. Ultimately, it will bring more advanced technical services to Asian clients in response to the growing Asian display and consumer electronics market. Corning has started investing in Taiwan since 2006, set up Advanced Technology Center with a capital of US$13 million in 2011, and completed the expansion for its R&D Center located at ITRI last year.
