Samsung Electronics Signs Contract with San'an Optoelectronics for Micro LED Development

Xiamen San'an Integrated Circuit, the subsidiary of San'an Optoelectronics, recently signed a supply contract with Samsung Electronics for LED (Light-Emitting Diode) chips, according to TechNews on February 6. Under the contract, Samsung will pay USD16.8 million to San'an as the prepayment to acquire a certain number of LED chips for its display products. The contract also specified that if Samsung' monthly orders exceed the agreed amount, both parties will discuss further expansion in advance. In addition, Samsung will continue on the development of Micro LED displays with San'an, which has potential to be one of Samsung's major suppliers if its mass production capability meets up to expectations.
