Huawei Opens New IoT Lab in Australia

Chinese Huawei announced that it has launched a new narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) lab in Australia, with an aim to turn IoT into services for smart devices, sensor networks and applications in Australia, reported ZDnet on February 22. Based on James Cook University, Queensland, this new lab will provide IoT technology and funding for university research and a testing environment for application developers, chip, module, and device manufacturers, according to the same source. Aside from Australia, Huawei has already had a similar facility in Newbury, the United Kingdom, in cooperation with Vodafone, and the company reportedly will open five more in the next few years.
