Taiwan-based DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) maker Inotera Memories plans to earmark NT$50 billion (US$1.6 billion; US$1=NT$30.436) in 2015 to develop 20-nm technology, the highest capital expenditure in the company's history, reported Economic Daily News on October 30. The company currently relies on 30-nm technology, with a monthly capacity of 120,000 units. By adopting 20-nm process technology, its production capacity in terms of bit output is expected to double. The company expects to apply the new process technology to 80% of its production capacity by the end of 2015.
